Queen of the Damned

Queen of the Damned, starring the R&B icon Aaliyah, is the film adaptation of the third novel in The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. The film also contains parts of The Vampire Lestat due to the fact that the director of Interview with the Vampire, Neil Jordan, did not release a film for The Vampire Lestat.

Queen of the Damned begins with Lestat awakening from his slumber to the sound of a rock band. Influenced by the music, Lestat decides to enter the public sphere once more, but as a vampire musician.

His music awakens Akasha, the Queen of the Damned, who later attends the concert in Death Valley. Here, a group of vampires try to attack Lestat but Akasha arrives to save him and makes him her king. The story continues with Akasha and Lestat partnering up and attempting to keep Akasha alive.

In the film, Stuart Townsend replaces Tom Cruise, who originally played Lestat. The casting also includes Aaliyah who plays as Akasha. The film did not receive the most positive reviews and reactions from fans or critics. Regardless, the movie did achieve Box Office success.
